Biography

Helen works as an international photographer shooting contemporary landscape architecture, garden design, interiors and lifestyle. Born in Zimbabwe, Helen trained and studied photography in Harare and London whilst developing a career in advertising.

Helen joined a team of international photographers based in Zimbabwe to record the final years of the Rhodesian conflict. One of her last commissions in Zimbabwe, before moving to South Africa, was to photograph Bob Marley and the Wailers on tour during the country's independence celebrations.

In 1984, following a period of commercial and advertising photography, Helen moved to London and worked in photographic research and editing. Six years later she returned to her true vocation and took up the camera once again. Her work has been published all over the world in brochures, advertising, books, magazines and newspapers.

Helen’s varied and extensive commercial experience is shown in her work, which often captures an alternative perspective. She is currently working on a book project focusing on African landscape design.

Helen is a photographic judge for the Royal Horticultural Society and an active member of the GWG garden photographers and is currently organising the 2006 ‘imagine, yesterday… today’ exhibition at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
